Howard G. Allaway was Managing Editor of Popular Science Monthly magazine. In June 1953, the magazine sponsored a contest that encouraged readers to send in their best story about "my funniest experience with a Model T." Nearly 3,000 stories were sent in. Selected stories were printed in Popular Science Monthly in the October and November 1953 issues. Each author recieved ten dollars.
